“There aren’t enough fridays in the week.” Man, I’m glad today is Friday – so excited to get my weekend on!
A really good friend, Patrick, is in town this weekend from Richmond, Virginia! So excited to hang out, go vintage shopping, antiquing, and see what else Chicago has to offer – you know, besides the Sears Tower, Mag Mile, and Oprah. I live for finding new vintage home stores are other shops. There’s sweet little spot in Andersonville (just north of Chicago’s Loop around the 5200 block of N Clark) that has home store after vintage home store. Here are some of my favorites:
Scout Chicago

Scout has a wonderful mix of vintage furniture and accessories, hand made lighting, and local artistry all with that awesome mid-century flair. They have a small shop, so their inventory is always moving – hardly ever see the same piece twice!
Brimfield
Brimfield is just next door to Scout. It may not be everyone’s style, but it is definitely interesting and beautiful enough to check out. Their items have a vintage lumber jack “mountain in the woods” kinda flair (in the best of ways of course) and the space smells of Christmas trees (via a burning candle). Tufting, Tartan plaids, and all kinds of teak adorn this shop. They even reupholster vintage furniture finds with heavy weight wool blankets from the arm? Or something like that… either way they are b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!

The Find

In West Town (West of the Loop, go figure!) you’ll find another awesome little spot with loads of designer shops, showrooms, vintage, and high end salvage stores (yes, ladies, that is possible). My favorite is definitely The Find. What is it with me on this vintage kick today? Idk, but The Find has vintage art work (you know, from the 18th and 19th century), furniture, but pops it with a few modern pieces. I once saw a Chanel lamp there… SA-WEET! If you don’t visit this place, you have no one to blame but yourself.
Jayson Home

Ok, so my last recommendation is going to be Jayson Home & Garden. This store is a little more mainstream and outfitted like a showroom – they have new furniture pieces mixed with antique and salvaged accessories and decorative objects. Probably the coolest thing about this place is that they have an in-house florist, where you can stock up on succulents for your prized terrarium. Their style is very Bohemian Rustic with a pinch of Modernism. I would compare this place to what Restoration Hardware strives to be. They are much more unique and don’t sell fake antlers. Really? if you’re going to by antlers, how about at least by the real thing? no? any takers? yes.. that’s what I thought.
With all of that said, quit reading my blog and go enjoy the weekend! And, for God’s sake, if you find something awesome, let a brotha know?!?
